The other day, I was surfing through Pinterest and came across several pins that featured tutorials on how to host a “Favorite Things” party. Basically, the idea is to invite some girlfriends over to your home and ask each of them to bring 3 to 4 of their “must have” products to share…things that they have recently discovered and have determined that they simply cannot live without. These “things” can run the gamut of a food item, a cleaning product, or a beauty elixir of some sort.
Hmmm…I thought. Why not carry over this concept to the blog and begin a series entitled “A Few of My Favorite Things”, where I can showcase organizing and productivity products that I’m currently crushing on?
So let’s get this party started!
MY FAVORITE THINGS FOR ORGANIZING
Tile App
I had heard of this cool little tracking device that enables you to find frequently misplaced items, but hadn’t seen it in action until recently. One of my clients demonstrated it in her home during an organizing session, and I was hooked!
The tiny Tile chip attaches to your purse, a remote control, your keys, etc. and emits a Bluetooth signal that communicates with your device to let you know where the item connected to the Tile chip is located. You can even program the Tile chip to emit a signal that you can use to track your item.
Check out this video for a more comprehensive description of how this tiny piece of genius works. I’ve earmarked this item as a future gift purchase for my Hubby, who is notorious for losing his keys and phone.
Pantry Pocket
Such a simple concept, but so very useful for relocating paper that clutters up horizontal surfaces out of the way! Attach them to the interior of your cupboard doors to take advantage of unused vertical space.
I keep a stash of Martha Stewart Home Office Pantry Pockets in my organizing supply bag at all times.Clients LOVE them! Recently, I used a set of them in a client’s kitchen (inside several cabinet doors) to store take-out menus, gift cards, and coupons. These items are stored in a handy location without taking up counter space.
SNUDDA Lazy Susan
Lazy Susans are a staple in a professional organizer’s “bag of tricks”, particularly in the kitchen. They perform magic by making the contents in the back of your cabinets instantaneously accessible with just a little spin.
But these organizing tools tend to be on the pricey end. Not Ikea’s SNUDDA! You simply can’t beat the value of this product. This 15 inch solid wood lazy susan retails for $7.99…GET. OUT.
Use them in your pantry, your cabinets, and your fridge. I purchase them in bulk when I get the opportunity to shop at IKEA to have on hand for my clients when the need arises.
Stadium File
The Smead Organized Up Vertical Stadium File is one of my new favorite paper organizing products. If you are the “out of sight, out of mind” type, you’ll love the way this product enables you to clearly view each of the vertical file folder labels at a glance. This is a great solution for storing active project folders. I have one on my desk for just this purpose!
Now it’s your turn! Share the products that you would bring to a “Favorite Things” party in the Comments section.
